Seminars on Disaster Management, organized by our Youth unit, were conducted at the SETIK Auditorium, Kandy and SETIK Centre, Hatton on 19th & 20th and 25th & 26th January, respectively, under the following themes.- Difference between hazards and disasters
- Identifying a disaster
- Classification of disaster
- Significance of team spirit in disaster situation
- Disaster situations and defensive methods to be taken
The participants were enlightened about Lightening, Severe Drought, Landslides, Sudden Inflammation and Tsunami situations.
There were 34 participants for the seminar in Kandy and 38 participants for the seminar in Hatton. A disaster management group with 25 youths was formed from the seminar in Kandy.
Mr. Ranaweera, the Director, Disaster Management Centre, Kandy and Mr. Amarasinghe Kalaldora of our Training unit functioned as Resource Persons at the Seminar in Kandy while Mr. Sivalingam from the Disaster Management Centre, Nuwara Eliya and Mr. Arulnesaraja of our organization, functioned as Resource persons at the Seminar in Hatton.
